Emily Williams, a PhD student in the group and DOE CSGF recipient, presented her research “Towards a stochastic subgrid-scale model for turbulence” at the Advances in Computational Mechanics Conference (October 22-25, 2023) honoring Prof. Tom Hughes seminal work on the occasion of his 80th birthday. An exciting result in Emily’s work is showing the potential to stabilize linearize chaotic systems through stochastic diffusion.
