Marshall promoted!

Congratulations to Marshall on his promotion to principal research engineer! Marshall is a key to the research we do in the group and has a seemingly unlimited bandwidth, energy, and enthusiasm (especially when it comes to helping students). This is a well-deserved promotion that recognizes his contributions as well as his future.

Here’s the description of Marshall’s contributions taken from the announcement of the promotion from AeroAstro’s department head.

Dr. Galbraith is a leading researcher in the field of computational aerospace analysis and design. His work focuses on developing robust and reliable computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models and algorithms, and multi-fidelity aircraft analysis and design tools. Dr. Galbraith’s contributions span from basic algorithm development through practical software engineering advances, enabling a tremendous body of work at MIT and elsewhere. He has made significant contributions to mesh adaptation for numerical error control and automated multi-fidelity aircraft analysis and design tools, which has been applied to innovative designs such as turbo-electric boundary-layer ingesting propulsion systems. He has also advanced the practice of test-driven research software development. Dr. Galbraith has demonstrated leadership and service to the aerospace community through his participation and organization of leading CFD workshops, and is an excellent mentor for our graduate students.
